University of Maryland Medical System to implement contract management system to increase visibility and "administrative effectiveness"

Redwood City, CA — July 7, 2003 — Contract management software provider Nextance Inc. today announced it has been selected by the University of Maryland Medical System to manage its contracts.

University of Maryland Medical System is a national and regional referral center for trauma, cancer care, neurocare, cardiac care, women's and children's health, and physical rehabilitation. It also has one of the nation's largest kidney transplant programs. University of Maryland Medical System was created in 1984 and has evolved into a six-hospital system with academic, community and specialty service missions reaching every part of the state and beyond.

"Since we have a system of hospitals, digitizing and consolidating our contracts into a single repository is crucial," said Carl Tietjen, director, Corporate Procurement Services, University of Maryland Medical System. "With Nextance, we have a contract management solution allowing access from any of our locations at any time, which will increase our administrative effectiveness. In addition, Nextance is providing a full range of professional services from data migration to hosting. This alleviates the demands on our IT staff."

Nextance said it would host its Web-based solution to manage University of Maryland Medical System's agreements, and, in turn, users will be able to access and have visibility into any contract, term or related information. Nextance also said it would provide the solution on a hosted basis, enabling simple Web access from any authorized location without any IT complexities.
