Athinos Lighting gets single-source import, distribution services

St. Louis — July 24, 2003 — Logistics Management Solutions (LMS), an information-based third party logistics provider, has been selected to provide import and distribution services for Athinos Lighting, developer of theme-based bedroom lighting fixtures for children.

LMS will direct Athinos' outbound freight operations, transporting product from the company's manufacturing facility in Southern China to retailers throughout North America. As part of this door-to-door solution, LMS said it would provide customs clearance, ocean freight forwarding, warehousing and final distribution services.

"We chose LMS primarily for their ability to provide an end-to-end supply chain solution using a single point of contact," said Nick Damalas, president of Athinos Lighting. "This will keep our overhead down and allow us to focus on our core business. Supply chain is as important as the product itself and LMS has the track record to ensure proper execution."

Beginning in August, LMS will move Athinos Lighting products from a manufacturing plant in the Guangdong province of Southern China to a customs clearance point in Long Beach, Calif. Upon arrival, freight will be shipped, via rail, to a warehouse in southern Illinois where it will be sorted, packed and tendered for final distribution.
