Dairy Farmers of America selects enterprise change management software to satisfy audit requirements

San Mateo, CA — August 25, 2003 — SERENA Software Inc., a supplier of software that automates change to enterprise code and content, today announced that the nation's largest member-owned dairy cooperative Dairy Farmers of America Inc. (DFA) has selected Serena to provide an enterprise change management (ECM) solution.

DFA said it would be implementing several products within the Serena ChangeMan product family to better coordinate development processes enterprise-wide, as well as fulfill stringent audit requirements. The solution will support all of the company's mainframe, and several of its front-end applications.

"We needed a full-featured change management solution that would support our multi-tier, multi-platform development environment," said Cathy Elgin, senior systems analyst, DFA. "Because Serena's sole focus is ECM, we felt confident in choosing the company as our vendor."

DFA's need for a change management solution was driven by the fact that future support for the product it had been using was being discontinued, Elgin said. DFA also wanted to implement a tighter level of control and more closely synchronize distributed and mainframe change management processes throughout its development environment.

DFA said it has already implemented part of the ChangeMan software and plans to implement the rest by the end of this year. Once fully implemented, DFA said it would be able to manage all changes from a single point of control. As a result, the company expects to realize significant improvements in process and productivity.

"With more pressure to control costs and align IT with business objectives, many companies are adopting an enterprise view to better manage the bottom line," said Mark Woodward, president and CEO, SERENA Software Inc. "We're very pleased that DFA has selected Serena and look forward to helping the company further its ECM vision."
