MFG.com Adds Standard Parts to Its Online Marketplace
Aims to empower sourcing professionals and engineers to source from distributors of industrial parts in addition to sourcing customized parts
Atlanta — June 18, 2007 — Online marketplace MFG.com has debuted new functionality giving sourcing professionals and engineers the ability to source for standard industrial parts in addition to custom parts on the MFG.com marketplace.
"Our company's foundation is built around giving manufacturers the tools to do business more efficiently," said Mitch Free, founder and CEO of MFG.com. "By giving our buyer community the ability to source for standard parts, we are further enhancing their MFG.com experience and connecting them with distributors that have the parts that they need at an exact moment in time."
MFG.com said its standard parts solution gives sourcing professionals and engineers the tools to source parts for their entire design at no cost to the buyer in one collaborative online community.
The online marketplace gives its customers the ability to source in a secure, private environment and negotiate cost from the initial purchase to the fulfillment of the order, as well as manage supplier and RFQ distribution lists, locate items and contact the supplier directly.
Users of MFG.com can source not only by part number but alternate part number, national stock number or by technical attributes, as well as upload or link to engineering prints and files that accompany the request for quote (RFQ).
Distributors now have the ability to have direct contact with buyers that have an immediate need, manage the quoting process and build relationships with buyers, MFG.com said.
"Having access to buyers that have an immediate need for what I am selling gives me a leg-up on my competitors," said Chad Berton, sales manager at Code Red Electronics, which is looking to use MFG.com to access new markets. "As the standard RFQ volume continues to grow, I will be connecting and distributing my products to new customers around the world."
