Cleveland — February 5, 2010 — Group purchasing organization Corporate United is highlighting what it calls "significant growth" in 2009, when the GPO added 25 new members, marking the fourth consecutive year that more than 20 companies have joined the organization.
Corporate United said the numbers add up to 16 percent growth in membership last year, with new member companies coming from such industries as chemicals, dental equipment, distribution, energy, financial services, insurance, manufacturing, metals and mining, restaurants, retail, telecommunications, trucking, distribution and utilities.
"Despite the economic challenges presented in 2009, our membership reached all time highs, exceeding more than 150 member companies," said Marc Rosen, Corporate United president. "The strength of our value proposition is perhaps even more relevant in the face of the economic downturn, as our member companies have the ability to achieve significant bottom-line results through reduced spend, improved efficiencies and increased supplier control."
Corporate United provides sourcing, procurement and supplier and contract management support across a variety of leveraged agreements, ranging from office and industrial supplies to pharmacy benefits and managed staffing.
The company stakes a claim as the nation's largest group purchasing organization.
