Anixter International Selects Brainware to Automate Invoice Processing
Organization aims to improve speed and efficiencies within accounts payable
Ashburn, VA — July 31, 2009 — Technology company Anixter International has selected a solution from Brainware to automate the processing of nearly 1.2 million invoices per year as it aims to improve the speed and efficiencies of its accounts payable process.
Anixter provides communication systems and services. A Fortune 500 company, Anixter is based in Glenview, Ill., and was founded in 1957. The company will use Brainware's Distiller solution to automate invoice processing, Brainware's workflow system to automatically route approvals, and the Brainware Visibility module for real-time statistics and reporting on the invoice processing cycle.
Ashburn, Va.-based Brainware said that Distiller will extract and validate header and line item data from Anixter's invoices that arrive via postal mail, e-mail and fax. The organization's goals for this project are to reduce the time required to enter data from invoices and cut the errors associated with the process.
"Finance departments have recognized that automation is the fastest way to achieve top performer or world-class status amongst their peers," said Carl Mergele, CEO at Brainware. "Anixter has made an investment in Brainware to help the company incorporate accounts payable best practices en route to improving operational efficiencies and realizing significant cost savings."
Melissa Webster, program vice president at technology consultancy IDC, notes that large multinational manufacturers with tens of thousands of suppliers have to process tremendous volumes of invoices and cope with thousands of different formats. "Leaders are leveraging advanced technologies to automate their invoice processing to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs, and improve working capital by optimizing payment scheduling."
Brainware said that it has signed more than a dozen new Global 2000 accounts in the past several months, including deals with CORT Business Services and Continental Airlines.
