Mayer Electric Taps WebSpan Integration Platform to Improve Customer Experience
National distributor uses SaaS-based integration platform from Hubspan and IBM to gain competitive edge, increase customer retention and raise revenues

Seattle — September 4, 2009 — Distributor Mayer Electric Supply has become one of the first companies to implement the new WebSpan "cloud-based" integration platform developed by Hubspan and IBM, aiming to provide its customers with seamless integration to its online catalog and e-procurement services, the two solution providers have announced.

WebSpan, announced in May, combines Hubspan's on-demand integration platform with IBM WebSphere integration software into a single platform capable of supporting multiple environments across integration communities. WebSpan automates critical business processes by providing integration across applications and systems to deliver management and cost-savings benefits to enterprises, according to the solution providers.

Mayer is using WebSpan to upgrade its e-commerce and purchase order exchange systems, making it easier for customers to order products and process their deliveries online, as well as expediting the overall online procurement process. WebSpan has also enabled Mayer to save money by using its existing hardware and software through the software-as-a-service (SaaS)-based integration platform rather than having to replace it with new systems.

"Customer integration with e-commerce and e-procurement has become a critical component to doing business and retaining customers, and the WebSpan solution helps us meet our customers' needs by driving cost and complexity out of their business processes," said Kenny Siegal, director of national accounts and corporate alliances for Mayer Electric Supply. "Importantly, WebSpan supports multiple platforms and facilitates 'speed to market,' enabling us to do business our customers' way and providing resources and expertise we don't possess in-house."

WebSpan is available in customized packages to support companies in a variety of industries, such as manufacturing, high-tech, retail, wholesale distribution, healthcare, local government and others, according to Hubspan.

"Despite the current economic climate, companies can still increase their top-line revenue by leveraging business integration as a strategic weapon to protect their existing customer base and define a distinct competitive edge," said Trisha Gross, president and CEO for Hubspan. "WebSpan enables Mayer Electric to cost-effectively build integration communities and strengthen customer relations to realize true business impact."
