BlueLinx Taps Integration Solutions to Drive Efficiencies with External Business Partners
Building products distributor selects Inovis Managed Services for initiative to increase efficiency through advanced business process integration with all customers across the supply chain
Atlanta — June 16, 2008 — Building products distributor BlueLinx Corporation has selected Inovis' suite of managed services to drive supply chain advancements and efficiency between the company and its external business partners and customers.
Atlanta-based BlueLinx previously relied on two separate outsourced platforms to route vendor traffic and supply chain documents. This operational scenario created inefficiencies due to system and operational redundancy and manual processes. Furthermore, the operational set-up made integration between both internal and shared external business processes and applications highly complicated.
The BlueLinx technology and business teams saw the effort to consolidate electronic data interchange (EDI) operations as an opportunity to utilize advanced business process integration with all customers across the supply chain. The company turned to Inovis to consolidate BlueLinx's vendor traffic onto a single value-added network (VAN) environment. The Inovis team completed the implementation within 90 days.
In addition, BlueLinx decided to further streamline its processes by outsourcing its EDI and supply chain communication to Inovis with the selection of Inovis Managed Services.
"Inovis engaged a strong project team that employed best-in-class procedures combined with the company's state-of-the-art network and infrastructure," said Larry Frey, chief information officer and vice president of technology at BlueLinx. "For BlueLinx, the result has been seamless data exchange with our trading partners."
Inovis' suite of Managed Services solutions combines hosted technology, a dedicated project team, transaction and partner management, and service-level protection. The outsourced solution is supported by Inovis' Multienterprise Expert Services Hub (MESH) platform, designed to be 100 percent available and with the underlying "tier-four" data center designed to operate at 99.995 percent availability with fully tested disaster recovery capabilities.
"With Inovis' Managed Services, BlueLinx has consolidated its EDI operations to improve efficiency and service to its customers and vendors," says Sean Feeney, CEO of Inovis. "By outsourcing the EDI operations with Inovis, BlueLinx can focus its resources on critical business activities."
The second phase of the BlueLinx implementation will be a data translation project. After the implementation, Inovis will manage the conversion and matching of BlueLinx product identification numbers to the differing internal identification number formats of its key customers.
This translation will allow BlueLinx to further comply with the business process requirements of its customers. In addition, BlueLinx will be looking to continue to reduce the burden on its IT department and gain additional efficiencies.
