Food and Beverage Distributors Taking on Complex Supply Chain Challenges

HighJump Software reports growing number of F&B customers turning to supply chain apps to manage industry-specific requirements

Eden Prairie, MN — April 10, 2006 — Food and beverage distributors are continuing to implement advanced solutions to manage complex supply chain challenges and meet industry-specific requirements, according to supply chain execution specialist HighJump Software, which is reporting an increasing number of customers in this sector.

Among others, companies including Smith Dairy Products, SimonDelivers, Musco Family Olive Co., Earthbound Farm, J&J Snack Foods and Farley's & Sathers Candy Co. have implemented solutions from HighJump. The solution provider said its Supply Chain Advantage suite enables these companies to manage industry-specific requirements such as USDA and FDA regulations regarding product quality, traceability and rotation.

Dairy Doubles Warehouse Space

Smith Dairy, an Orrville, Ohio-based producer and distributor of dairy products, implemented HighJump's Warehouse Advantage while doubling warehouse space. The HighJump system has improved productivity, as well as tightened inventory management capabilities, according to the solution provider. Smith Dairy also has improved track and trace processes to meet FDA requirements, reducing product trace times by up to 80 percent.

"We're thrilled with the results we've seen thus far," said Dean Reed, production systems manager at Smith Dairy. "The adaptability of HighJump Supply Chain Advantage has allowed us to truly take ownership of our operations, allowing us to incorporate the unique processes that make everything run smoothly."

Reed added that the company is rolling out the system in its Richmond, Ind., facility this spring without any outside assistance.

Simon Says "Supply Chain"

E-grocer SimonDelivers selected HighJump Software to replace its previous warehouse management system, which hindered the company's ability to manage fast growth because it could not accommodate changes and upgrades cost effectively. SimonDelivers turned to HighJump Software's solutions because of their adaptable architecture; depth of functionality; and reliability in handling critical track and trace functions, such as expiration date tracking, HighJump said.
