Lang Holding Puts Supply Chain Improvement on the Calendar
Home décor company hires supply chain management and consulting company TOTALogistix to help manage its supply chain functions and reduce overall transportation expenses

Sparta, NJ — October 2, 2008 — Home décor enterprise The Lang Companies has hired supply chain management and consulting company TOTALogistix to help manage its supply chain functions and reduce overall transportation expenses.

Lang Holding, headquartered in Delafield, Wis., has been in business since 1982 and markets an assortment of calendars, cards, candles, home décor products and collectibles nationwide, primarily through specialty retail stores.

"Reducing transportation costs has certainly been a top priority for us," said Eric Cypher, director of distribution at the company. "While we've done a fine job in the past, I've felt we could do better, not just in the area of lower costs, but better information with regard to deliveries to customers and inventory management."

"We're starting with transportation modeling because that's where most of the savings are", said John Mead, director of national accounts with Lang. "Recent acquisitions of Turner Licensing and Avalanche Publishing add to the uniqueness and breadth of Lang's product line. Supply chain improvement will maximize the return on investment in those two companies, as they consolidate the inventory and we help optimize shipments to their customers."

"With inventory carrying costs now rising faster than transportation costs, nothing is off the table when it comes to reducing expenses and improving service to our customers," added Cypher. "In our business, time is more than a date on a calendar; it's dollars to the bottom line. We're looking forward to working with TOTALogistix and to the support they are able to provide our team."

TOTALogistix has expertise in network design and transportation management.
