KORE Telematics, LoJack Supply Chain Integrity Partner to Lock Down the Supply Chain
LoJack SCI leverages GSM Network to safeguard high-value assets, reduce opportunity for theft and increase product visibility during transport

Reston, VA — May 27, 2009 — LoJack Supply Chain Integrity (LoJack SCI) is partnering with the KORE Telematics, the world's largest digital wireless services provider specializing in machine-to-machine (M2M) communications, to provide GSM wireless services to power advanced supply chain monitoring and security solutions for the global transportation industry, the two companies have announced.

LoJack SCI's service is using KORE Telematics' M2M network for GSM services to enable its wireless devices to track, monitor and recover cargo in transit. LoJack SCI delivers a solution for supply chain protection that includes tracking, monitoring and recovery, as well as investigation and prevention, helping organizations reduce and manage risks in the supply chain.

For a wide cross-section of manufacturers, from pharmaceuticals to electronics to consumer goods, monitoring high-value products during transit poses special challenges. For example, pharmaceuticals have a large resale value on the black market, which makes them valuable targets for theft while in transit. If a medicine is controlled, it is also subject to strict DEA chain-of-custody regulations from origin to destination and at every point in between.

In addition to meeting these strict security regulations and preventing theft, companies must efficiently maintain product visibility throughout the supply chain even though logistics operations are often sub-contracted to third parties.

"As we looked for a GSM wireless service provider that would help us deliver reliable visibility across the transit routes of our customers, at an economical cost, KORE stood out from the pack," said Robert Furtado, CEO of LoJack Supply Chain Integrity. "With KORE as our GSM wireless backbone, we have been able to build applications that make the supply chain operations of our customers as visible, secure and efficient as they can possibly be."

With advances in M2M wireless devices and networks, shippers can covertly track their assets at the vehicle, pallet and even individual product level simultaneously, thus limiting exposure to theft and enabling manufacturers to audit their supply chain partners for adherence to security protocols.

KORE provides LoJack SCI with an integrated GSM wireless network that addresses the latter's domestic requirements and international expansion strategy. KORE said its coverage capabilities, reliability, management and optimized usage plans enable LoJack SCI to ensure availability and dependability of its solution on a 24/7/365 basis for the supply chain company's clients.

"When manufacturers and shippers move cargo worth millions of dollars, failure is not an option," said Alex Brisbourne, president and chief operating officer at KORE Telematics. "At KORE, we view our M2M wireless network as a value-added asset for partners like LoJack SCI that are innovating their respective industries."
