JDA Software, Management Dynamics Ally on Global Trade Management
Expanded solutions aim to break down organizational stovepipes, eliminate logistics black holes, help companies better manage and profit from multi-country sourcing
Scottsdale, AZ — February 25, 2008 — Supply chain solution provider JDA Software Group and global trade management specialist Management Dynamics have forged an alliance to bring an integrated offering to market targeted at addressing the automation needs of importers, exporters and logistics service providers.
The combined offering will bring together JDA's Transportation Logistics & Management solutions and Management Dynamics' Global Trade Management (GTM) Suite.
Management Dynamics' Global Trade Management (GTM) suite is comprised of modules for trade planning, supply management, export and import compliance, trade agreement management, supply chain visibility and performance management. These modules are back up with trade content for more than 120 countries.
JDA Software's Transportation & Logistics Management solution aims to cover the closed-loop transportation and logistics process, from strategic logistics sourcing, planning and optimization, to shipment visibility and event management, to payment and performance analysis.
Breaking down Stovepipes
As the two solution providers see it, while low-cost country sourcing is an established strategy today, many companies have not achieved the anticipated benefits. Importers and exporters often experience increased costs associated with freight, logistics, duties, taxes and inventory carrying costs.
Moreover, a recent Aberdeen Group study1 indicates that 65 percent of companies lack automation to manage their global supply chain. In response to this challenge, organizations are making investments in visibility and trade compliance a priority to close the gap.
"Traditionally, international logistics and trade compliance have been independent stovepipes within global enterprises, and this is no longer acceptable," said Dwight Klappich, a vice president at Gartner Inc. focusing on transportation and global trade management applications. "Innovative organizations are now looking to integrate these processes and supporting technologies to more effectively exploit globalization."
