Westerville, OH — May 15, 2008 — Supply chain management firm Exel announced this week the implementation of a global transportation management technology system that provides its customers visibility to shipments anywhere in the world. With the launch of its supply chain command and control (SC3) transportation system, Exel said it is the first third-party logistics company to use a common platform across all continents.
SC3 is a Web-based application through which Exel customers can manage inventories, shipment lead times, delivery dates, freight costs and lane volume forecasts. The system also alerts users to disruptions in the supply chain. For companies using multiple carriers, SC3 shows progress in one single view across all transportation partners.
"As the new standard for Exel Transportation Management customers, SC3 offers visibility to inventory-in-motion regardless of where it is in the world and which carrier is moving the freight," said Mike Clark, vice president of transportation at Exel. "Our experience with this product, support network and implementation process allow us to offer our customers a capability that will help them better manage and control their supply chains, so they can concentrate on their core businesses."
Exel's transportation management technology uses an Oracle-based system that helps users manage all aspects of the transportation process and is also configurable to local practices and standardized for global information. Exel is also a member of the Oracle PartnerNetwork.
