San Francisco — February 24, 2009 — Schenker of Canada Limited, the second largest Logistics Service Provider in Canada with more than 1,700 employees in 40 branches and sales of approximately $1 billion, said today it has selected SmartTurn Inc.'s Inventory and Warehouse Management System to track its inventory and streamline the delivery process.
Schenker Canada said it determined that SmartTurn's on-demand solution offered reliability comparable to traditional enterprise software with dramatic cost savings.
"After conducting an extensive evaluation of several solutions, SmartTurn's on-demand WMS not only addressed our inventory management and rapid deployment needs but met our expectations as the best solution in that range," said Morris Di Stefano, vice president, Information Technology at Schenker Canada. "With its ability to quickly deploy to multiple locations combined with significant inventory accuracy and expense control, SmartTurn's WMS 2.0 technology provides us with unparalleled inventory management capabilities."
Schenker Canada said it will run several inventory management operations using SmartTurn's WMS 2.0 technology. SmartTurn's enterprise-class, on-demand system is expected to enable Schenker Canada to have real-time visibility at the inventory and warehouse level, allowing them to better communicate and collaborate with their partners and customers.
In addition, the company said it will be able to support more efficient and accurate storage and fulfillment services, functionality that would be difficult to manage and costly to implement with traditional enterprise software.
"As Schenker Canada looked to connect their warehouse locations, while providing secure and accurate access to their supply chain network, they realized that SmartTurn's on-demand solution meets those needs, while increasing internal productivity and customer satisfaction," said Jim Burleigh, CEO of SmartTurn. "Our solution offers companies such as Schenker Canada enterprise-class functionality with the reliability and cost savings within the structure of an on-demand, scalable system."
Based on its WMS 2.0 technology and similar to social networking sites such as LinkedIn and Facebook, SmartTurn said it offers a global collaboration platform that can be delivered across geographic or corporate boundaries and enables companies to implement and integrate additional sites to gain enterprise-wide warehouse visibility and management without any added IT infrastructure or server hardware costs.
Warehouses can integrate the information flows within their own organizations and federated trading communities by simply adjusting security and permission configurations.
