ABB Concise Optical Group Takes Second Warehouse Live with IRMS Warehouse Software
Optical products distributor to advance productivity and increase efficiency through real-time inventory management
Downers Grove, IL — March 18, 2009 — Optical products distributor ABB CONCISE has successfully implemented a warehouse management solution from Upp Technology in the second of three warehouse operations as part of an ongoing effort to advance productivity and increase efficiency through real-time inventory management, the solution provider has announced.
Coral Springs, Fla.-based ABB CONCISE Optical Group is one of the nation's top distributors of optical products, including contact lenses, ophthalmic lenses, frames, sunglasses, accessories and contact lens solutions. The company was formed through a merger of ABB Optical and CON-CISE Contact Lens Company.
Since integrating Upp's IRMS warehouse management solution into its process several months ago, ABB CONCISE has already reported increased output in its inventory management practice. IRMS' stock rotation, lot control and first expiry-first out (FEFO) order allocation ensure accurate fulfillment and elimination of aged stock.
The FDA 21 CFR Part 11 validated transaction trail provides a comprehensive "who did what, when and where" to keep detailed traceability required with the high-volume, high-velocity pace of the ABB CONCISE operations. IRMS is one of the only data management systems that is compatible with the strict medical and healthcare requirements put in place by the FDA, according to Upp.
"Working with Upp to help organize our business has provided ABB CONCISE with the full-range feature functionality we desired in working with a third-party supplier," said Jeff Rinkus, vice president of supply chain with ABB CONCISE. "We are confident entrusting this portion of our business to Upp because of their proven track record and decades of experience in warehouse management, distribution and fulfillment for businesses similar to ours."
