Jo-Ann Stores Aims to Reduce Gross-Net Inventory and Improve Forecast Accuracy
Top U.S. specialty fabric retailer implements supply chain management solutions from JDA Software to get better picture of future customer demand

Quote from JDA Software Group Senior Vice President for Retail Wayne Usie

Scottsdale, AZ — February 8, 2010 — Specialty fabric retailer Jo-Ann Stores has gone live with best-of-breed supply chain management software solutions from JDA Software Group as part of an initiative to reduce gross-net inventory and improve forecast accuracy.

Operating in 48 states with annual revenue of $1.9 billion, Jo-Ann Stores is the nation's largest specialty fabric retailer, offering a variety of sewing, crafting and home decorating merchandise.

The 769-store retailer leveraged JDA Services' implementation expertise to integrate the solution provider's Demand, Demand Classification, Fulfillment and the newly released Order Optimization solutions with its existing ERP system.

Leveraging JDA's demand-forecasting capabilities, Jo-Ann Stores is looking to rebalance inventory levels across its stores and distribution centers, improve store- and DC-level forecast accuracy, increase integration as a result of streamlined space and merchandise planning, as well as increase exception-management capabilities.

The ability to respond in real time to changes in consumer-buying behavior will also help the retailer improve customer-service levels and positively impact bottom-line results, JDA said.

"Accurately aligning product selections with changing consumer demand enables retailers to be more responsive while reducing risk and uncertainty," noted Wayne Usie, JDA senior vice president for retail. "By applying the disciplines of time-phased demand planning to its merchandising processes, Jo-Ann Stores can look forward to gaining a more complete picture of future customer demand that will help drive increased profitability, reduce inventory levels and improve customer service."
