Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated Upgrades Supply Chain Software
Bottler eyes improved forecast accuracy and increased customer service levels as it updates JDA software investment to support growth initiatives

Scottsdale, AZ — March 19, 2008 — The second largest Coke bottler in the U.S. market has upgraded its supply chain management solutions from JDA Software as part of an effort to improve forecast accuracy, customer service levels, order fill rates and on-time deliveries.

Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated, with 6,000 employees and $1.4 billion in annual revenue, has upgraded its JDA Software SCM solutions to Version 7.4, including JDA Demand, JDA Fulfillment and JDA Transportation Planning, all "powered by Manugistics."

JDA said its Supply Chain Optimization and Transportation & Logistics Management solutions allow companies to respond rapidly to shifts in consumer demand, as well as manage, optimize and execute the strategic, operational and tactical business processes that transform the supply chain into a strategic differentiator.

"We hope to further improve our planning efficiency and productivity to set a stronger foundation for the continued growth and expansion of Coca-Cola Consolidated through use of this software solution," said Brett Frankenberg, director of supply chain planning at Coca-Cola Consolidated.

The bottler also utilizes JDA Collaborate, JDA Freight Audit & Payment and JDA Shipment Execution, all based on applications from Manugistics, which JDA acquired in 2006.

Frankenberg said that JDA's products have provided financial and operating results while improving the company's capability and capacity. "They have enabled us to take on the future," he said. "If you're not enabled, you start missing opportunities, which negatively affect customer service levels on one end and product obsolescence on the other. We certainly would not be as successful without JDA Software."

David Johnston, JDA Software senior vice president of manufacturing and wholesale distribution, said that JDA's supply chain solution enabled Coca-Cola Consolidated to achieve substantial inventory reductions while also delivering significant improvements in customer service levels. Additionally, sales from new product introductions improved greatly, he said.

"More and more companies are focusing on achieving true supply chain optimization excellence in a quest to deliver improved market responsiveness, better lifecycle management, optimized network-wide inventory levels, increased customer service levels and reduced logistics costs," Johnston said.
