22 Countries Sign European Blockchain Partnership

The newfound partnership will be a guide for cooperation among Member States to exchange experience and expertise in technical and regulatory fields and prepare for the launch of EU-wide blockchain applications.

Twenty-two countries signed a Declaration to create a European Blockchain Partnership. The newfound partnership will be a guide for cooperation among Member States to exchange experience and expertise in technical and regulatory fields and prepare for the launch of EU-wide blockchain applications. 

European Commission's vice president called on Europe to become a leader in digital technologies by working on Blockchain and artificial intelligence development.

 Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and the UK have all signed on to the partnership. European Commissions is encouraging other countries to be a part of the partnership as well. 

The European commission has already invested in more than EUR 80 million in projects supporting the use of blockchain. Around EUR 300 million more will be allocated to blockchain by 2020.
