Ageus Solutions Provides China RoHS Services to Electronics Industry

Deliverable-driven service for meeting specific demands of China RoHS

Kanata, Ontario — October 24, 2006 — Ageus Solutions, a provider of European Union Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) and Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), Japan Green and China RoHS compliance services, unveils a step-wise approach to China RoHS compliance.

Building upon China RoHS solutions provided to over 30 companies, Ageus Solutions has standardized its approach to meet the specific requirements of China RoHS compliance.

Leveraging the same processes as its EU RoHS and WEEE implementation, and through the creation of WEEE treatment instructions/recycling passports, Ageus Solutions has been able to implement the same customer- and deliverable-focused approach to meeting the technical, administrative and business challenges represented by China RoHS.

There are three stages in Ageus Solutions' process. The first phase is a comprehensive review of the requirements of the China RoHS legislation, the related subsidiary legislation and their respective implementation stages. The second phase is the parallel effort of determining the application and requirements for a specific company and their products, as well as creating an acceptable corporate model for the creation of the proper labeling, Environment-Friendly Use Period (EFUP), material declarations and related requirements. The third phase is the actual creation of material declarations and related EFUPs for a company's specific products.

"Many consultants offer vague support or only copies of translations of the China RoHS legislation," noted Bruce Calder, president of Ageus Solutions. "At Ageus Solutions, we have a plan and process which we help our clients implement."

An advantage of Ageus Solutions' standardized process is its compatibility with other compliance requirements. Ageus Solutions can use its expertise in WEEE treatment instructions/recycling passports (a documentation requirement of the WEEE directive) and its experience with EU RoHS to be able to combine multiple international compliance deliverables, allowing clients to work with a single organization for its global compliance requirement.

"Quoting is a straightforward, no-nonsense, deliverable-oriented process," said Calder. "We provide real world solutions to real world problems. Our clients do not have the time or resources to focus on a project that does not provide them with resolution."

China RoHS is the commonly used term for the Chinese legislation (Measures for Administration of the Pollution Control of Electronic Information Products) and while it has some similar content as EU RoHS, it differs significantly in scope, structure and requirements.
