Newton Peripherals Taps ModusLink for Global Supply Chain Services
MoGo mouse maker looks to service provider for forward and reverse logistics support
Waltham, MA — December 8, 2006 — Technology company Newton Peripherals has tapped ModusLink Corporation as its global supply chain services provider, including for forward and reverse logistics, to support growing worldwide demand for the company's new product, the MoGo Mouse.
The MoGo is a business-card sized, Bluetooth-enabled mouse that users can store in their laptop's PC card slot when not in use. With the consumer electronics market offering its own distinctive set of supply chain challenges, Newton Peripherals is looking to ModusLink to manage these challenges and provide greater efficiency, speed-to-market, and customer satisfaction in both the United States and European markets.
"Given our rapid growth worldwide, it was important for us to choose a partner with global reach and strong capabilities in the consumer market," said Matthew Westover, Newton Peripherals' CEO and president. "Our innovative technology has sparked considerable interest in the U.S. and abroad, and ModusLink has the global footprint and scalable operating infrastructure needed to accommodate this growing demand."
Westover said that he believes ModusLink's supply chain processes and solutions can grow with his company while ensuring that Newton Peripherals maintains high service levels. "By partnering with ModusLink, we can respond more quickly to global market dynamics and sustain our competitive edge in the market," he said.
As part of the contract, ModusLink will provide the following services: call center support, including after sales service and technical support; returns management authorization issuance; reverse logistics; testing and repair.
Additionally, given the complexities of supply chain management in the European market, ModusLink will also provide additional services in this market, including sourcing; kitting and assembly; retail distribution, value-added tax (VAT) management; and customer support in several different languages.
