PittsburghOct. 23, 2014—In an effort to empower procurement professionals to gain marketing's cooperation and, ultimately, achieve better cost savings for their organizations, the Next Level Purchasing Association (NLPA) together with SourceOne Management Services released a marketing procurement online express course, Adding Procurement Value to Marketing Spend. Marketing is one of the newest categories being addressed by procurement departments, but with its potential for cost savings also comes unique challenges.

"Managing marketing spend is a new and very different responsibility for today's procurement professional," said Charles Dominick, Senior Professional in Supply Management (SPSM), SPSM2 and SPSM3, and president and chief procurement officer for the NLPA. "If procurement professionals don't approach this new area with the utmost care as we teach in this new express course, their ability to positively influence marketing spend will never reach its potential."

Adding Procurement Value to Marketing Spend is designed to guide procurement professionals step by step through the unfamiliar territory of marketing procurement. Key learning objectives of the express course include:

  • Three valuable processes that strategic sourcing can bring to marketing.
  • Initial marketing categories for strategic sourcing to consider addressing.
  • Five phases of strategic sourcing for marketing.
  • Five best practices of sourcing marketing.
  • And more.

Adding Procurement Value to Marketing Spend is a single-lesson express course and can be completed in about 30 to 60 minutes.
