Daytona Beach, Fla.—June 4, 2014—Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University – Worldwide joined forces with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) to launch an online supply chain management certificate this summer.
Designed for individuals currently working in the industry, the certificate’s coursework address topics such as basic cargo procedures, loading, sourcing, procurement, packaging, distribution and customer service.
“The air transport industry plays such a key role in our global society,” said Embry-Riddle Worldwide Chancellor John R. Watret, Ph.D. “As a leader in online education, Embry-Riddle Worldwide looks forward to collaborating with IATA to enhance performance and professionalism within the air transport and supply chain management fields.”
“Air cargo transports goods worth in excess of $6.4 trillion on an annual basis. This is approximately 35 percent of world trade by value. The sector is an important component of the aviation industry, which collectively supports 57 million jobs worldwide,” said Ismail Albaidhani, the head of IATA Global Partnerships and Learning Innovation. “IATA designed its global academic partnership program to meet the challenge of developing the next generation of our industry leaders, and Embry-Riddle is our first academic partner.”
