Thales Selects Ivalua to Optimize Purchasing Performance

Redwood City, Calif.May 29, 2014—With 65,000 employees based in 56 countries, and external purchases of $7.8 billion USD, purchasing is one of the Thales Group’s strategic functions. With this in mind, Thales decided to introduce tools to optimize its purchasing process. Within the framework of its Purchasing Performance project, launched in 2010, Thales chose Ivalua Buyer as the e-purchasing tool to be used by the group’s 1,350 buyers.

“Introducing a collaborative tool like Ivalua Buyer enables us to pursue the transformation initiatives implemented by the group and to reinforce our values, as well as help make us more competitive," explained Renaud Larramendy, purchasing process and tools director at Thales.

Ivalua Buyer e-purchasing software can help the Group Purchasing Division strengthen the purchasing management process through the introduction of indicators. Ivalua Buyer’s Flex software-as-a-service (SaaS) approach also caught the Thales Group’s eye, as it allows the firm to manage the differences between the various different parties involved in the purchasing process all around the world.

"We were looking for a tool that would allow us to develop a collaborative approach within the purchasing community, thus ensuring the best possible level of service for our customers,” Larramendy continued.

Out of many functions Ivalua Buyer can offer, the Thales Group chose to adopt the following modules: e-Sourcing, Supplier Relationship Management (SRM), Supplier Performance Evaluation and Purchasing Dashboards.
