Firms Land $69M in Air Force Contracts

Lion-Vallen Industries of Dayton was awarded up to a $24.7 million deal for one-year to provide logistic services to the Marine Corps

April 01--Two Dayton area companies have been awarded multimillion contracts, the Pentagon said.

The Air Force has awarded a $45 million contract to a Dayton research firm to develop stealth technologies and the Marine Corps has selected another Dayton firm for $24 million logistics contract to another firm to manage equipment.

Under the Air Force deal, Matrix Research Inc. will develop technologies to reduce the need for low observable treatments, materials, repairs and processes, among other technological expectations, according to the Department of Defense.

The contract is in effect until 2020, the Defense Department announced late Friday.

Matrix Research, a small employed-owned company, was founded in 2007, according to a company website.

It provides research and development for systems analysis and design, advanced signal processing and measurement of radar cross sections on aircraft, among other services, technologies, the company said.

It has product expertise in aircraft antennas, radomes, structures and composites and manufacturing technology, among other areas.

The Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base awarded the contract.

In a separate contract, Lion-Vallen Industries of Dayton was awarded up to a $24.7 million deal for one-year to provide logistic services to the Marine Corps.

The company will manage the Marine Corps Consolidated Storage Program to manage infantry clothing equipment, chemical, biological and nuclear defense equipment, soft-walled shelters and camouflage netting, the Defense Department said.

The work will take place at Marine Corps bases in Arizona, California, North and South Carolina, Hawaii and Japan, the Defense Department said.

The more than century-old Dayton company also provides firefighter and law enforcement protective gear.
