Intsel Steel Chooses Location for its First California Distribution Facility

The company purchased a 50,000-square-foot distribution facility to warehouse, store, and distribute structural steel

County of San Bernardino, Calif.Mar. 11, 2014Intsel Steel West, LLC, a supplier of steel to the construction industry, selected the County of San Bernardino to locate its first California distribution facility. The company purchased a five-acre, 50,000-square-foot distribution facility located at 13338 Napa Street in Fontana to warehouse, store, and distribute structural steel purchased in bulk to redistribute to fabricators and end users.

“With the construction market picking up again in the region, we identified the County of San Bernardino as a strategic location to expand our operations,” said Kevin M. Dempsey, vice president of Intsel Steel West. “It was important to find an affordable location that provided a logistics infrastructure to support both our rail and trucking requirements in order to serve California and other western markets.”

Intsel Steel previously operated a sales office in the Orange County city of Lake Forest consisting of three employees and outside sales representatives. They are now working out of the new Fontana site. Additionally, the company hired several new employees and plans to have a total of 20 employees in the coming months.

“We expect future growth for our Inland Empire operations and are optimistic about increasing our market share throughout the region,” added Dempsey. “The County of San Bernardino Economic Development Agency made our expansion into California a smooth and seamless process.”

“The County of San Bernardino is a natural choice for companies like Intsel Steel who are seeking an industrial location that also provides them with a skilled labor base, and the logistical infrastructure to transport goods to key markets and customers,” said Kelly Reenders, economic development administrator, County of San Bernardino.

Intsel Steel West, LLC is a wholly owned subsidiary of Triple-S Steel Holdings, Inc. based in Houston, Texas.
