Product Lifecycle Management Software to Improve L'Oréal's Innovation

L'Oréal expects its new corporate product data management system to reduce time to market and enhance packaging

MunichFeb. 28, 2014L’Oréal S.A., a global provider of cosmetics, selected Siemens’ Teamcenter software to help optimize its packaging development processes, reduce time to market, and improve product innovation and quality. Teamcenter, a widely used product lifecycle management (PLM) system, is going to be deployed globally as L’Oreal’s corporate product data management system and used by everyone involved in the company’s product development processes. Teamcenter is developed by Siemens’ PLM software business unit.

According to Martin Rhein, group operations chief information officer at L’Oréal, “Teamcenter was selected because of the PLM portfolio’s breadth, adaptability to the L’Oréal processes and data model requirements, and user-friendly interface, and because of the knowledge demonstrated by Siemens PLM Software during the selection phase.”

"Siemens PLM Software’s Teamcenter system will help optimize our engineering and manufacturing processes,” said Philippe Thuvien, group development and packaging director at L’Oréal. "It will allow us to share packaging configurations and innovative ideas between different technical departments, standardize specifications, and thus help to reduce time and product cost. We will also be able to capture and manage our corporate know-how, creating a solid foundation for a future of innovation and growth.”

“L’Oreal’s decision to standardize on Teamcenter is a welcome validation of the need for a robust, open PLM platform for the consumer goods industry,” said Chuck Grindstaff, president and CEO, Siemens PLM Software. “Siemens PLM Software is pleased to partner with L’Oréal to deliver a solution that enhances innovation and manages complexity, both of which are requirements for today’s market.”
