Solna, Sweden—Jan. 29, 2014—International Business Systems (IBS), a global integrated enterprise resource planning (ERP) and supply chain provider, announced that On the Dot, a large multichannel media logistics company in South Africa, selected its Dynaman warehouse management system (WMS) to help drive even greater efficiencies in its warehouse. The integration of Dynaman into On the Dot’s mature systems and processes can also allow the company to expand and enhance its contract logistics service offerings for clothing and apparel, e-business and other industries, helping customers manage their supply chains more effectively in a 24/7 world.
On the Dot, which used IBS’ Bookmaster solution for more than 10 years, compared several WMS solutions before selecting Dynaman. Its flexibility was the primary driver of the decision, along with the confidence On the Dot has in IBS as a result of the two companies’ long working relationship.
“We wanted to take the expertise in distribution we amassed over the years and apply it to new markets,” said Solly Schoultz, information technology (IT) manager at On the Dot. “To do that, we needed to install a full WMS that can help manage shipping, receiving, personnel and the movement of goods through the warehouse. We took our time investigating solutions and even took an extended trip to Belgium to see an operation that is similar to what we want to do. In the end, it became obvious that Dynaman offered the features and flexibility to help us tailor our offerings to our target customers.”
The ability to service e-business customers is particularly important to On the Dot as e-business is a rapidly growing market in South Africa, but it requires a broader range of capabilities than On the Dot offered its media publishing customers. On the Dot’s first Dynaman installation is for a technology company, so serialization, batch control and the ability to deliver extensive storage processes are very important. The expected go-live date is late February 2014.
IBS Dynaman is a key part of the supply chain that controls the movement and storage of materials within a warehouse, and processes the associated transactions, including shipping, receiving, put-away and picking. IBS Dynaman also directs and optimizes stock put-away based on real-time information about the status of bin utilization.
