Streamlining Chinese Air Cargo Communication

InfoSky and Descartes federate their respective networks to connect freight forwarders, ground-handling agents and air carriers.

Waterloo, OntarioNov. 12, 2013Descartes Systems Group, a global company that unites logistics-intensive businesses in commerce, announced that it signed an alliance with InfoSky to streamline logistics messaging for the Chinese air cargo industry. The alliance federates the two organizations' respective networks to connect freight forwarders, ground-handling agents and air carriers on Descartes' Global Logistics Network (Descartes GLN) with the similar China-based community using InfoSky's Cargo Community System (CCS).

"The alliance with Descartes is a natural extension to our business as we share a common vision to help standardize communications, automate processes and improve efficiencies across the air freight industry," said Aiguo Li, general manager of InfoSky. "Federating with Descartes GLN provides our customers proven and reliable electronic access to members of the air cargo community in over 160 countries."

InfoSky is a division of TravelSky, a provider of information technology solutions to China's air cargo, travel and tourism industries. The InfoSky and Descartes alliance expands the breadth of Descartes' GLN by enabling connected parties to communicate electronically with Chinese airport ground handlers, cargo terminals and air carriers, including Air China, China Eastern Airlines, Shandong Airlines and Sichuan Airlines. These carriers can also provide electronic status updates on air cargo shipments for connected freight forwarders. InfoSky's China-based forwarders benefit by being able to submit cargo bookings and communicate electronically with air carriers connected to Descartes' GLN.
