Invata Intralogistics Completes Distribution Center Automation Program for Old Dutch Foods

New Brunswick facility designed to double capacity, increase DC throughput, eliminate errors and reduce cost per unit shipped

Conshohocken, Pa.—Aug. 16, 2012Invata Intralogistics Inc., a global provider of supply chain and facilities optimization, software and controls, recently completed a new automated distribution center in Hartland, New Brunswick, Canada that will serve the Old Dutch Foods Atlantic region. The culmination of a two-year investment to increase production capacity and expand the distribution center, the overall project is projected to add $10 million in expenditures to the local economy and meet increasing market demand for Old Dutch Foods products. The automation update is designed to double the facility’s capacity; increase distribution center throughput; and implement state-of-the art serialization and lot tracking technology.

The expanded facility will utilize a combination of technologies provided by Invata Intralogistics, including conveyors, sortation, RF terminals and Invata’s FastTrak Warehouse Control System (WCS) configured to manage orders and shipments in real-time coordination with Old Dutch Foods’ JD Edwards enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.

“The design of the expanded distribution center will meet four core objectives: A) Doubling our capacity to serve the Atlantic region, B) increasing the throughput to meet our investments in production capacity, C) eliminating errors through the use of new technologies, and D) providing complete product visibility and traceability,” said Jorn Remmem, Director of Plant Operations and Engineering, Old Dutch Foods.

“This was an important project,” he added. “We were looking for a partner we could trust, work closely with, and who would be responsive to our needs as we engineered, installed and integrated the new facility. We found that partner with Invata Intralogistics,” said Remmem.

The completed system at Old Dutch Foods integrates Invata’s FastTrak WM+ software series of products with JD Edwards’ ERP systems, manufacturing operations and distribution.

“Invata is not only pleased with the successful completion of this system for Old Dutch Foods, we’re also looking forward to working with their team through the service and support phase of our relationship, which is just as important to both companies,” confirmed Ryan Sheehan, Chief Executive Officer of Invata Intralogistics. “While this has added another successful JD Edwards ERP integration to our list of accomplishments, this project is also the beginning of a more rapid expansion of our international presence within a growing list of customers in North America, Central and South America and an expanded investment in multi-lingual software applications.”
