Wipro's newly launched m-eXecute App, in partnership with SAP, increases visibility across the manufacturing value chain and allow stakeholders to make decisions collaboratively and quickly

Bangalore, India—June 06 2012—Global information technology, consulting and outsourcing business Wipro Technologies (of Wipro Ltd.) launched its Wipro m-eXecute mobility app for the manufacturing sector, developed in collaboration with SAP and caters to the niche space of manufacturing operations.

The solution is built on a Sybase Unwired Platform (SUP) and enables the functionalities of SAP’s proprietary Manufacturing Execution 6.0 solution for iPhone and iPad users (other platforms will be added in later releases).

“Wipro m-eXecute is based on two principles—faster decision making and timely execution of transactions—and we have found that these are the two most important objectives for any manufacturer,” said N.S. Bala, Senior Vice President and Global Head, Manufacturing & Hi-Tech, Wipro Technologies. “We are happy to launch the app in partnership with SAP and have designed it to enable collaborative decision making across the manufacturing value chain.”

Discrete industries like hi-tech, automotive and semiconductor are likely to embrace this app.

According to Gartner report “Forecast: Enterprise IT Spending by Vertical Industry Market, Worldwide, 2010-2016, 1Q12 Update” for the mobile network services and mobile devices sector, manufacturing & natural resources, government and banking & securities will be the biggest spenders during the period (2011-2016) and the 2012 IT spending for manufacturing & natural resources industry vertical will be close to USD $55 billion.

“Wipro m-eXecute provides extended value to our customers by enabling mobile access to the shop floor user,” said Mike Lackey, Vice President of LoB Manufacturing Solutions, SAP. This innovation demonstrates the ability of Wipro to accelerate delivery of key SAP initiatives through collaboration with SAP.”
