Leading Mexican distributor implements second RedPrairie distribution center, gains multi-customer capabilities and increased inventory accuracy

Milwaukee — April 26, 2006 — Mexican grain distributor Almacenadora Mercader (Almer) has implemented a supply chain execution solution from RedPrairie in a second Mexican distribution facility to manage multiple customers in the same warehouse, including Internet visibility into inventory for customers and suppliers.

Almer, which also is a leading Mexican third-party logistics (3PL) provider, chose RedPrairie's DLx Warehouse solution as part of an initiative to offer better customer service and to improve revenues on 3PL services.

The company implemented the RedPrairie solution in a 55,000-square-foot facility in Guadalajara, Jalisco, and recently went live with the solution in a 40,000-square-foot facility in Mexico City. Almer plans to implement RedPrairie solutions in two more distribution centers in 2006.

"We have gained many efficiencies since implementing RedPrairie DLx Warehouse," said Luis Garcia Serrato, CEO of Almer. "Our customers and suppliers now have 24-hour online visibility into inventory and orders, taking the guesswork out of order fulfillment status."

Garcia Serrato added that his company is able to use the space in its warehouse more effectively because it can mix products of different customers, whereas before implementing RedPrairie they had to be physically separated to maintain ownership.

"Thanks to the technology within RedPrairie applications, we are now able to attract new customers that we weren't able to get before," Serrato continued. "Now we can offer capabilities and advantages that our competitors cannot, like real-time Web-based visibility for specific inventories across multiple warehouses, automated events and alerts notifications and flexible, customer-specific invoicing."

Headquartered in Guadalajara, Almacenadora Mercader stores more than 1.3 million metric tons of grain among 38 warehouses in 14 different Mexican cities. Almer also provides third-party logistics services to many Mexican companies, including Urrea Group and Kodak.

NetLogistiK, RedPrairie's service partner in Mexico, is a part of the implementation team with Almer.
