Cube Route teams with Intermec to boost field data capture functionality with combined offering

Toronto — February 1, 2005 — "On-demand" logistics services provider Cube Route will add support for mobile computers from Intermec Technologies Corp. to its offering under a deal that will combine visibility and routing capabilities with data capture functionality.

Under the terms of the partnership agreement signed between the two companies, Cube Route will add support for Intermec's 700 series mobile computers to its Web-based logistics service offering. This will enable organizations with delivery or field service fleets to leverage both the visibility and routing capabilities of the Cube Route service and the data capture features facilitated by the Intermec device, such as electronic signature capture, Bluetooth GPS and package scanning.

"Our relationship with Intermec enables us to deliver the latest in mobile computing technology to field workers so organizations can differentiate their service and achieve even greater efficiencies across their delivery operations," said Jeff Murphy, vice president of operations at Cube Route. "Drivers out on the road will be able to capture more data and run multiple applications concurrently on the Intermec device, facilitating more effective and efficient operations and improving end customer service."

Murphy said that features such as electronic signature capture can be effective tools in maintaining a chain of signature and executing proof of delivery.

Cube Route and Intermec already share some customers, such as Arctic Glacier, a manufacturer of packaged ice products. According to Cube Route, by adding support for the Intermec 700 series mobile computer to the Cube Route service, Arctic Glacier will be able to provide its field workers with a single device that can be used to manage enterprise-wide distribution and route accounting, provide real time visibility and capture data from the field.

Said Les Mesh, Intermec vice president: "Cube Route's ability to provide visibility into the delivery cycle and transmit data in real time is invaluable in driving operational efficiencies and cost savings for organizations with fleets of vehicles. With the added functionality intrinsic to Intermec's mobile technology, the benefits multiply."

Cube Route's logistics service combines tracking, planning and routing functionality with Web-based service delivery, providing users with visibility into their delivery operations in real-time. It is offered on a pay-as-you-go basis.
