Version 8.1 of shop management solution offers job shops improved visibility into work assignments
Minneapolis — March 23, 2005 — Exact Software has rolled out the latest version of its shop management software for job shops, mixed mode and custom manufacturers, with upgraded features offering improved visibility into work assignments.
Exact JobBOSS is a shop management system intended to give job shops increased control over their entire businesses, from quoting to shipping, in order to reduce costs while improving customer satisfaction. Exact said that JobBOSS can help improve productivity, profitability and competitiveness by providing management functionalities that deliver visibility and control over all aspects of the shop.
Version 8.1 of Exact's JobBOSS solution includes enhancements intended to increase the ease and intuitiveness of the product. The updated Data Collection system simplifies the data entry process, driving toward a paperless shop, Exact said. Users have online visibility into their daily work assignments and activities and can then drill down into the details of a job to see routing, picks, buys and notes.
Tools in this release were designed to get users up and running quickly, according to Exact. Administrative functions have been consolidated, which means less time is spent cleaning data and more time can be focused on maximizing production, the solution provider said.
Ron Franke, CEO of Maxcam, a milling shop that specializes in engineered plastics, said that prior to implementing JobBOSS, his company had no job costing. "We're now confident about our pricing procedures," Franke said. "We have a high-volume of quotes going out, [and] we now know what the jobs cost and that our estimates are accurate. We're also seeing major benefits through the transparency of time and attendance, which my employees have found very useful."
