Vandalia, OH — September 21, 2005 — Esko-Graphics, a provider of solutions for packaging pre-production and the digital imaging of flexo plates, has debuted a new suite of software and hardware intended to streamline the package-design and production process.

Esko-Graphics' Design Life-Cycle Management Initiative for North America offers tools that the provider said can help companies accelerate the development of packaging innovations.

The initiative is designed to be part of a product lifecycle management (PLM) solution. Complete PLM solutions may help to manage product design, packaging design, production and manufacturing. Esko-Graphics provides a Web-networked solution that can be integrated into other key components of PLM.

Key tools in the Design Life-Cycle Management solution are based around Scope workflow products, which include DeskPack, BackStage, PackEdge and WebCenter. Customizable to meet the specific needs of various clients, the solutions are modularly based, allowing upgrades and additions over time as a client needs to change and evolve.

"Our work with consumer product companies, private-label retailers and their graphic communications partners has given Esko-Graphics the experience to drive cost out of the design chain," said Simon James, executive vice president and general manager at Esko-Graphics. "Our Design Life-Cycle Management solutions will speed time-to-market and dramatically reduce costs, while also helping to eliminate errors."

The larger field of PLM gives organizations the ability to exchange project information in real time across the complete project lifecycle. A number of PLM projects have been recently undertaken by Fortune 500 companies and produced substantial cost and time savings, according to Esko-Graphics.

"In addition to the efficiencies engendered by our Design Life-Cycle Management solutions, perhaps the key benefit is providing a collaborative platform across the entire supply chain that fosters innovation," James said. "Managing and encouraging innovation is rapidly becoming the strategic competitive advantage across a swath of industries."
