Weyerhaeuser among first to claim revenue, performance gains from the Microsoft .NET-based software

Federal Way, WA — November 1, 2005 — ODS Software, a supply chain management solutions provider in the building materials industry, today introduced a new Web services version of its supply chain management solutions suite built on the Microsoft .NET Framework. Specifically built for wholesale distributors in the building materials industry, the ODS solutions suite is designed to automate processes and centralize information flow for sales, logistics and inventory.

The company said that global firms, like Weyerhaeuser Co. based in Federal Way, Wash., are already using the software suite to realize revenue and performance gains.

ODS' new solution built on .NET is faster, less expensive and will be easier to maintain and scale as our business grows, said Dan Lauren, business manager for Weyerhaeuser Building Materials Division's IT department. With it, WBM will be able to react more quickly to market conditions and change our software to keep up with our evolving business model.

Newell says that by using the ODS solutions suite, Weyerhaeuser — one of world's largest forest products companies — successfully managed 300% percent growth in their Wholesale Building Materials division while reducing server hardware by 80 percent and decreasing the number of people supporting sales and operations. Our solution delivers all the real-time information in one location that Weyerhaeuser needs to be able to buy and sell quickly, said Tom Newell, ODS Software CEO. This enables the company to boost revenue and increase customer satisfaction by completing orders faster and helping customers make critical buying decisions.

The ODS solutions suite consists of dsCore, an integrated business environment; dsInfo, a reporting solution and database foundation; and dsLink, an e-business component that allows users to extend dsCore and dsInfo to customers and suppliers through an e-business Web portal.

ODS added that its solutions suite is designed to automate sales, inventory management, operations, logistics and procurement.
