San Jose, CA December 15, 2005 Product lifecycle management (PLM) specialist Agile Software has debuted the latest version of its flagship solution, adding capabilities around compliance, product portfolio, product collaboration and quality management, as well as support for the Linux operating system.
Compliance Update
On the compliance front, Agile said that the Product Governance and Compliance (PG&C) module can help organizations manage product and program compliance against standards and regulatory requirements. The module now provides expanded capabilities to manage "bill of substance" information and rollup compliance information using a variety of scenarios.
PG&C also provides improved supplier declaration capability and regulatory information to ensure effective compliance throughout enterprise operations. In addition, the module includes upgraded bill of substance adapters for Agile partners PartMiner, i2 technologies, Avent and Arrow, providing suppliers with environmental standards declaration tools.
With supplier and regulatory information, organizations should be better equipped to meet environmental regulation standards such as the Waste of Electronic and Electrical Equipment (WEEE) directive and the Restrictions of Hazardous Substance (ROHS) regulations, Agile said.
Executive Analytics
The Product Portfolio Management solution now includes executive portfolio analytics and bidirectional integration with Microsoft Project, which can help organizations to optimize their product development investments by providing synchronized program and product information, maximized resource utilization and cross-program visibility and decision support throughout the product lifecycle, according to Agile. Portfolio analytics include time to market, financial, resources pool, program and issues tracking.
For the Product Collaboration module, Agile 9.2 adds beefed-up change collaboration and document management capabilities, providing each stakeholder in the extended design and supply chain secure access to product record data, including bills of material, attributes, manufacturers, configurations, specifications, documents, models, work instructions and revisions.
Agile said that it also had updated the suite's interface to meet the growing number of organizations with worldwide operations and extended global supply chains. Agile now offers its PLM portfolio localized in six different languages: English, French, German, Japanese, traditional Chinese and simplified Chinese.
Quality Management
In addition to the above product updates, Agile has renamed its Product Service and Improvement solution Product Quality Management. The solution now includes advanced analytics capabilities intended to help drive improved product quality and customer satisfaction by integrating customer, product, quality and regulatory information within a closed-loop corrective action system. Product Quality Management is intended to help companies fulfill customer demands for higher quality, faster response and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Finally, Agile has added the Linux open source operating system to its list of supported environments. The addition of the Linux operating system is intended to improve flexibility and intellectual property security, and reduce total cost of ownership. Agile said it will support Red Hat Linux AS version 4.0.
Agile 9.2 will become generally available on December 19.
