Datastream updating 7i solution for companies running the Microsoft platform
Greenville, SC — January 27, 2004 — Datastream Systems is set to make its flagship Datastream 7i Asset Performance Management solution available this quarter for the Microsoft SQL Server platform.
Many companies worldwide have deployed the 7i solution on the Oracle platform as part of initiatives to drive down operational costs and improve asset performance. With this announcement, 7i also supports the SQL Server platform, effectively expanding the range of companies that can implement this asset performance management solution.
"Our customers have been asking to extend their SQL Server investment with a robust, Web-architected asset performance management solution," said Larry Blackwell, president and CEO of Datastream. "With this quarter's delivery of Datastream 7i for SQL Server, we provide this solution."
Version 7i combines a Web architecture with asset performance management functionality and multi-organization, multi-currency capability. Datastream said that this means that a single application can be deployed across multiple locations, even across international boundaries, giving companies visibility into their operations enterprise-wide and facilitating the transfer of best practices.
The product also offers an asset analytical module that can help customers capture and analyze asset and operational data to identify trends and anomalies, which in turn can result in better-informed business decisions that lower operations costs and improve profitability.
"Fresh Express has standardized on the Microsoft SQL Server environment, so Datastream 7i's support for SQL Server means that we will be able to deploy the industry-leading Asset Performance Management solution in-house," said Scott Komar, the multitasking senior vice president, supply chain group manager and chief information officer for SQL Server customer Fresh Express.
Komar added that his company would now be able to 7i in-house. "We anticipate an extremely smooth and cost-effective migration from our current Datastream 7i hosted deployment to the in-house one," he said.
Datastream said that the SQL Server-compatible 7i will offer such features as modules for electronic signatures and records, automated procurement and analytics, as well as the ability to deploy role-based interfaces through Web services technology, so a broader range of employees can use and benefit from the application.
