New features in the updated solution include 3D Viewer, which allows manufacturing engineers to visually identify key metrics and geometry without launching proprietary CAD programs. This feature was intended to decrease the time required to create a GPF record, the manufacturing process record that directs a user how to machine a given part.
With this new functionality, users can rotate the model, pan across the model, and zoom in/out on model features; highlight model features and link highlighting to feature branches; set the model orientation and link that orientation to a GPF branch; automatically populate basic measurement and feature information into GPF Advisor; and snap model pictures, placing them in a branch for display and printing in GPF Viewer.
In addition, as new manufacturing routines are introduced, users can now reuse routines from one manufacturing strategy and embed them in another manufacturing strategy. And Velocity's user interface has been overhauled to unify its many reports and consolidate access to part management services found in the application today.
