Redwood City, CA — March 26, 2004 — Discount retailer Retail Ventures has tapped Informatica to provide an enterprise data integration platform to help the company react to rapidly changing customer demands.

Headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, RVI operates a portfolio of off-price retailing brands, including Value City department stores, DSW Shoe Warehouse and Filene's Basement. Altogether the company has 282 stores in 29 states.

RVI will use Informatica's PowerCenter solution to integrate information from various systems to help buyers, merchandisers, marketers, finance professionals and other corporate personnel conduct price optimization, category management, inventory analysis and markdown analysis.

"Information timeliness is vital to our continuing ability to provide consumers with value for their money," said Ken DeWitt, senior vice president and chief information officer at RVI. "PowerCenter will help provide the comprehensive, up-to-date business view we need to stay nimble in a highly competitive environment and to make proactive decisions that benefit our customers and our bottom line."

Clive Harrison, executive vice president of worldwide field operations at Informatica, said that the integration solution would provide RVI with a scalable infrastructure for continuous visibility into huge volumes of retail operations data. "Retail Ventures' continued expansion will be greatly facilitated by having a high-performance, unified data integration platform in place," Harrison predicted.
