Manufacturing services firm to offer supply chain solutions to clients in automotive, industrial sectors

Atlanta — April 5, 2004 — Manufacturing services firm Modern Engineering has formed an alliance with supply chain solution provider Viewlocity to offer solutions to clients in the automotive and industrial sectors.

Modern Engineering, a wholly owned subsidiary of Virtual Supply Chain Engineering, has been providing staffing, engineering and design services to the worldwide manufacturing industry since 1946.

The company is both licensing Viewlocity's supply chain solution and, as a Viewlocity channel partner, will offer those solutions to its own clients.

In addition to software licensing fees, Viewlocity will receive royalties as their Inbound Planning and Supply Chain Design software is used in Modern's engagements with their automotive and industrial clients.

"This is a tremendous win-win situation, allowing us to further penetrate the automotive market without increasing sales and marketing expenditures, while Modern continues to differentiate themselves by delivering the highest value supply chain technology to their clients," said Jeff Simpson, CEO of Viewlocity.

Ron Wood, CEO of Modern Engineering, said that his company would be able to offer Viewlocity's capabilities as part of Modern's own service offering, thereby eliminating the need for Modern's customers to go through a capital expenditure approval process to take advantage of the Viewlocity solutions.

"We've already proven out the value of combining the Modern/Viewlocity capabilities with several of our automotive clients, and the results have been very compelling," Wood added.
