Delivers RFID-enabled medical equipment management programs to reduce total cost of ownership

Denver — April 14, 2004 — TrenStar Inc., a supply chain services provider, said today that its recently formed business unit Agility Healthcare Solutions offers the first radio frequency identification-enabled (RFID-enabled) resource and workflow management solutions in the healthcare industry.

TrenStar said the RFID-enabled solutions are designed to optimize asset utilization, reduce operating costs and improve care quality.

In addition, TrenStar announced that Fran Dirksmeier, former president of McKesson Medical-Surgical, a $3 billion medical supply and equipment distribution company and division of McKesson Corp., has been named Agility CEO. Dan Neuwirth, McKesson Medical-Surgical's former senior vice president of operations, has been named chief operating officer.

Agility provides a mobile asset management application designed for the healthcare industry and offers dedicated support and account management services to measure cost reductions and identify asset utilization improvement opportunities, said Dirksmeier. Mobile assets in the healthcare industry include medical and transport equipment and surgical instruments.

"Using RFID to obtain and analyze mobile asset tracking and utilization data is the critical first step, but the information must be used in conjunction with improved management processes to drive cost efficiencies," Dirksmeier said. "We collaborate continually with clients to refine business processes."

Neuwirth added: "Most hospitals have never associated a dollar figure with the total cost of mobile asset ownership. They're surprised when we show them how much money they're losing and to what extent patient and employee satisfaction levels are suffering from equipment inefficiencies."
