Fire safety firm presents supplier award for project to take time, cost out of global manufacturing operations

Phoenix, AZ — April 22, 2004 — Fire safety firm Fyrnetics (Hong Kong) Limited has cited U.S. firm Avnet Electronics Marketing for its achievements in supply chain management after Avnet undertook an initiative that helped take time and cost out of Fyrnetics' global manufacturing operations.

A part of the Kidde group, Fyrnetics manufactures fire alarm systems for commercial and consumer applications. The company, more than 20 years old, employs a staff of about 1,600.

Fyrnetics has presented Avnet Electronics Marketing, the largest operating group of Phoenix-based Avnet, with its Distinguished Supplier with Outstanding Achievement in Supply Chain Management award.

Avnet said it won the award on the basis of its support of Fyrnetics' design activities in North America and manufacturing operations in China. The Avnet global business migration team, working through Avnet Supply Chain Services, implemented a supply chain engagement for Fyrnetics, including a consignment stock program that helped shave time and cost from its global manufacturing operations.

"This award highlights Avnet Electronics Marketing's commitment to supporting our customers' design and supply chain activities wherever they occur across the globe," said Phil Gallagher, executive vice president at Avnet Electronics Marketing.
