Will use UCCnet for registration and synchronization services to ensure accurate exchange of product info
Lawrenceville, NJ — May 25, 2004 — Office products giant Office Depot is set to implement product registration and data synchronization services from UCCnet in a bid to achieve efficiencies across supply chain functions through more timely and accurate exchange of product data.
Headquartered in Delray Beach, Fla., Office Depot has annual sales of more than $12 billion. Founded in 1986, the company conducts business in 23 countries and employs nearly 50,000 people worldwide.
Office Depot will register product data in the UCCnet Registry, and the company's suppliers will also register data with UCCnet. Once registered, UCCnet will check the data for compliance to industry standards.
Office Depot will then use UCCnet's synchronization services to synchronize the registry-compliant data with its suppliers, helping to ensure that all suppliers are using identical, up-to-date, standards-compliant data.
"We plan to adopt the UCCnet Registry service to continue to improve our supply chain and provide even better service to our customers," said Rick Coro, vice president of merchandising and replenishment systems for Office Depot. "We are very excited about the high level of support in the industry, and we will be urging our suppliers to join us and subscribe to UCCnet."
UCCnet says its services will enable suppliers and their retail partners to reduce administrative errors in invoice pricing, purchase orders and product delivery, as well as increase scanning accuracy. In addition, the services will help companies to increase the speed at which they can bring new products to market and facilitate continuous exchange of changes to existing product information.

Office Depot is the second major U.S. office supply retailer to subscribe to UCCnet, which already counts as members more than 3,000 other supply- and demand-side trading partners.
