Truckload transportation company taps ISM to optimize mainframe system resources

Bethlehem, PA — June 2, 2004 — J.B. Hunt, one of the largest publicly held truckload transportation companies in North America, said today that it has chosen The Information Systems Manager Inc.'s (ISM) PerfMan capacity and performance management tools to achieve greater business benefits and agility from its mainframe system resources.

With more than $2 billion in annual revenue and a corporate mission to drive down costs and add value for its customers, J.B. Hunt said it wanted greater efficiency, control and strategic value from its IBM mainframe infrastructure.

"Capacity and performance management has long been an important [information technology (IT)] discipline at J.B. Hunt," said Ken Mangold, J.B. Hunt's vice president of technical services.

Mangold added: "We wanted a more sophisticated, intuitive tool that would help us maximize the business value of our IT investments quickly and more easily. We chose PerfMan to achieve this."

J.B. Hunt goes beyond providing exceptional drivers and a fleet of nearly 11,000 trucks to service its customers. The 35-year-old firm creates supply chain value through a variety of engineered, optimal solutions that include truckload and intermodal transportation services, dedicated fleet management, electronic commerce and logistics management.

ISM said its PerfMan tools provide J.B. Hunt with an automated approach to collecting, analyzing, reporting and modeling its mainframe environments.

By understanding performance information in detail, J. B. Hunt can optimize existing hardware and software, reallocate systems resources to meet changing workload demands, and more accurately plan for future systems requirements.
