Workwear manufacturer taps Unigistix to provide supply chain services to 2009

Brampton, Ontario — June 3, 2004 — The Canadian unit of workwear manufacturer Dickies has signed up supply chain service provider Unigistix to provide all logistics services for the company until 2009.

Dickies, the largest workwear producer in Canada, required a third-party logistics provider (3PL) that was able to accommodate all of its logistics requirements for such retailers as Wal-Mart, Zellers, Canadian Tire and Mark's Work Warehouse, as well as Sears Catalogue orders, independent retailers and others.

Unigistix will inspect on inbound, repack, customize ticketing, manage inventory, provide outbound order distribution and returns processing for all Dickies Canada brands and products in Canada.

"Dickies selected Unigistix based upon their proven best practices in the 3PL industry and their demonstrated understanding of the unique complexities of the supply chain process in the soft goods apparel industry," said Keith Suddaby, president of Dickies Canada. "Their ability to interface with our information systems to manage data flow and operations provides invaluable benefits to us and they were able to make the transition with as little disruption as possible to our client base."

While in the past logistics outsourcing may have been a tactical response to improve operational efficiencies, today it can in fact provide a strategic source of information about companies' customers, vendors, marketing pull-through, accuracy of marketing/advertising campaigns, product feedback and many other critical data, Unigistix notes. In addition to operational capabilities in the handling of high-velocity SKU clients, Unigistix said it has systems integration experience and success interfacing with a client's technologies.

"When dealing with the retail industry in particular, service requirements can be stringent and meeting those needs directly affects the bottom line," said Michael Dunlop, president of Unigistix. "Unigistix provides accuracy, flexibility, customization, responsiveness and strategic, real-time information which will be the foundation for a productive relationship with Dickies Canada."
