Chemical company consolidates VAN and meets retailers' AS2 requirements using solutions from Inovis

Atlanta — June 9, 2004 — Chemical company Recochem is working to reduce its e-business costs and complexity by expanding its relationship with business commerce automation specialist Inovis.

Canadian-owned Recochem is a privately held company with a reputation for aggressive market penetration and superb distribution channels. The company is a producer, formulator and distributor of chemical products for the household and automotive markets.

To comply with the mandate from retailer Wal-Mart that its suppliers adopt Applicability Statement 2 (AS2), a specific connectivity standard for facilitating electronic data interchange (EDI) over the Internet, Recochem selected Inovis' BizManager Internet EDI software.

At the same time, to more cost effectively meet the needs of its other retail partners relying on traditional EDI document exchange over multiple value-added networks (VANs), Recochem consolidated its EDI traffic on the Inovis VAN. Inovis' software and services also offered Recochem integration with its MAPICS software, which serves as the company's enterprise resource planning (ERP) backbone.

"Our long history with Inovis is due in large part to its ability to consistently provide us with progressive solutions and a flexible cost structure to capitalize on the latest e-business standards and technologies like Internet EDI while offering uncompromising support for our legacy investments in VAN and EDI software and services," said Henry Figura, information technology officer with Recochem. "With Inovis, we are not only able to satisfy the demands of our largest customers by quickly adopting Internet EDI, but also are positioned to easily support additional retailer partners as they evaluate the use of emerging e-business standards."

Recochem attributes part of its success in its industry to its application of trends and innovation from around the world to improve its methods, products and processes. This forward-looking approach has informed the company's technology investments and infrastructure decisions. Since its early days engaging trading partners in e-commerce, Recochem has relied on Inovis' TrustedLink EDI transformation software to simplify data transformation.

Through its 10-year partnership with Inovis, Recochem has expanded its operations and subsequently seen its customers employing EDI increase from two to 30, along with growing interest in Internet EDI support. Inovis says that, taken together, its various business commerce automation solutions have provided Recochem with the ability to continue to evolve with the needs of its trading partner network.
