Extends relationship with Manugistics in bid to further boost customer responsiveness, reduce costs, enhance operational efficiencies

Santa Clara, CA — June 10, 2004 — Sanmina-SCI Corp., a global electronics manufacturing services (EMS) company, is set to extend its use of Manugistics supply chain solutions worldwide to drive further improvements across its materials planning, supplier collaboration and logistics processes.

With more than 100 manufacturing facilities in over 23 countries spanning five continents, Sanmina-SCI has committed to a technology infrastructure that can meet both customer cost-effectiveness and time-to-market objectives.

Through continued deployment of Manugistics' new collaborative supply planning, network optimization and global logistics management solutions, Sanmina-SCI aims to gain a more synchronized and collaborative view into its complicated web of customer orders, interlocking production schedules and complex material requirements, while improving order fulfillment and product delivery.

"Our ability to quickly deploy and leverage technology solutions in support of our global manufacturing operations is key to delivering the customer service levels and lower costs of operation that the marketplace demands," said Vin Melvin, senior vice president and chief information officer at Sanmina-SCI.

Melvin noted that his company initially had turned to Manugistics in 2001 to help Sanmina-SCI more efficiently manage customer orders, production and inventory requirements for our North American EMS operations. "Manugistics enabled our team to achieve on-time, on-budget and on-scope project results," Melvin said.

The Manugistics collaborative supply planning solution will enable Sanmina-SCI to share optimized material plans with suppliers, helping the company make better use of current parts inventories, committed parts supplies and approved alternative component options. Manugistics network optimization and logistics solutions will enable the company to work more collaboratively with customers — creating improved order fulfillment plans that can better satisfy customer cost and lead-time requirements — as well as better plan, optimize, and execute the company's domestic and international inbound and outbound movement of components and finished goods. The goal is to continue to improve customer service, enhance revenue and reduce manufacturing costs, while further driving down transportation costs.

"We are continually focused on maximizing our ability to react quickly to our customers' changing demands while minimizing the inventory investments necessary to support profitable plant operations," said Terry Le, vice president of business systems at Sanmina-SCI. "We believe Manugistics is enabling our planning personnel to be more effective at managing customer demands and critical assets than ever before."

"Category leaders in electronics and high technology such as Sanmina-SCI select Manugistics for solutions that can help keep their suppliers close and their customer's even closer," said Ram Chandrasekar, vice president for electronics and high technology at Manugistics.
