CPG company turns to ServiceCraft Logistics for product distribution to national retailers

Buena Park, CA — June 23, 2004 — Consumer products company Petters Consumer Brands has named ServiceCraft Logistics as the company's national third-party logistics provider (3PL), providing distribution services for Petters' products shipping to various national retailers around the country.

Petters Consumer Brands, an independent operating company of Petters Group Worldwide, creates partnerships with global manufacturers to develop products and brand extensions for distribution through retail, Internet, catalog and specialty channels.

ServiceCraft's original contract award was for distribution to Petters' West Coast market for import product arriving at the port of Long Beach. The contract scope subsequently changed from Southern California to include national distribution.

Today, Petters' product arrives at the Port of Elizabeth, N.J., as well, and East Coast distribution is handled from ServiceCraft's Allentown, Penn., facility. "Shipping ocean direct to an East Coast port has provided us significant cost savings," said Dove Carter of Petters. "ServiceCraft's physical network and service performance provided Petters Consumer Brands the opportunity to make various changes to leverage our supply chain."

"Petters Consumer Brands is a perfect fit for ServiceCraft," said Jimmy Rodriguez, ServiceCraft's chief commercial officer. "Our domestic distribution platform is perfect for international companies needing domestic distribution and retailer integrated solutions for their import products."

In addition to warehousing and transportation, ServiceCraft provides Petters technology solutions through ServiceCraft's customer extranet and customized solutions. Petters has 24/7 access, via the Internet, to the company's inventory in ServiceCraft's custody. They can place and release orders, view order approved and shipped status, as well as generate various stock activity reports.

"ServiceCraft's information solutions provide Petters Consumer Brands with detailed information including visibility to the product piece through serial number tracking," continued Carter. "We know exactly what product piece went to which retail outlet and when it shipped. Additionally, since ServiceCraft handles Petters Consumer Brands warranty shipments, this enables us to track product through final shipment to the end-customer."

ServiceCraft, which offers a variety of logistics services to companies in consumer packaged goods, electronics, food and other sectors, is a wholly owned subsidiary of May Logistics Services, a Chicago-based holding company owned by Code Hennessy & Simmons, a private equity group.
