Set to replace legacy systems with solution from IFS Applications

Linkoping, Sweden — June 23, 2004 — Finnair Technical Services (FTS), a division of Finland's flagship carrier, Finnair, has chosen IFS Applications to streamline its maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) and fleet management operations.

Replacing a number of legacy systems, IFS Applications will control all processes related to airframe maintenance, engine overhaul, and system and component repair in one integrated solution.

The contract, covering licenses and implementation services, is valued at nearly $7.5 million.

FTS will roll out the new solution to approximately 2,000 users at its base at Helsinki-Vantaa airport. IFS Applications will help FTS manage all MRO work, including configuration management, for the airline's own fleet of approximately 65 aircraft, as well as those of FTS' external customers.

In addition, the IFS system will provide components for human resources, finance, sales and marketing, and business performance. An Internet solution for FTS' Client Services is also included.

Finnair said it opted for IFS Applications because of its architecture and functionality for aviation MRO, as well as its proven track record in the aviation and defense industry.

"The particular advantages we see in IFS Applications are its flexibility and comprehensive functionality," said Jarmo Vilenius, senior vice president of Finnair Technical Services. "The system can be easily adapted to our specific requirements, and the intuitive user interface makes it easy to use. In addition, our decision was greatly influenced by IFS' strong aviation expertise. We will get a system that is tailored to the needs of our industry, along with industry-specific technical support."

With aviation and defense being one of IFS' targeted market segments, IFS Applications offers advanced standard functionality that meets the demanding requirements of commercial aviation companies, MRO providers, national defense organizations and airports.

IFS customers within aviation and defense include the British, French, Norwegian, Greek and South African defense organizations, as well as the Eurofighter consortium.

Commercial MRO shops and operators include Bristow Helicopters, Aero-Dienst GmbH, Hawker Pacific and Jet Turbine Services.

In addition, IFS provides solutions to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) such as General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin, BAE SYSTEMS, Saab Aerosystems, and GE Aircraft Engines.

Among airport authorities and ground-handling providers, customers include the Swedish Civil Aviation Authority, Budapest Airport, Oslo Airport, SAS and Evergreen International Aviation.
