Fairfax, VA and Tokyo — June 24, 2004 — webMethods K.K., the Japanese subsidiary of webMethods Inc., a Web services infrastructure company, today announced that Canon Sales Co. Inc. has implemented the webMethods Integration Platform. Canon Sales is using webMethods' integration capabilities for an order management system that improves operations and customer service.

In May 2003, Canon Sales established C21, an integrated information system, which consolidated its enterprise resource planning (ERP), supply chain and customer relationship management (CRM) systems.

Canon Sales selected the webMethods Integration Platform to support C21 and deployed the solution in April 2004 in order to enhance operational efficiency and customer support. By leveraging webMethods with its C21 IT infrastructure, Canon Sales said it expects to reduce order management costs, while it anticipates that it will increase sales from current 5 percent to 40 percent by 2006.

"webMethods enables us to seamlessly integrate current and future systems of our global customers into our system," said Toshiyuki Sanematsu, director of IT Division, Canon Sales Co. Inc. "By leveraging an effective IT infrastructure, Canon Sales expects to reduce the total costs of order processing by at least one third."

Kenichi Kamagata, Chief Executive, Solution Sales Operations, Solution Business Headquarters of Canon Software Inc., added, "With C21 in place, Canon Sales has the aggressive goal to achieve one billion Yen sales within two years by providing proactive integration solutions."

With the new technology, Canon Sales said its new system has been able to improve operational efficiencies and reduce costs by reducing the overall communication and labor costs, while improving the accuracy of information and by centralizing its order process through the Internet. Canon Sales plans to also leverage the webMethods Integration Platform to attract new customers with B2B capabilities.
